Composed South Normanton cruise to Aylestone win

South Normanton secured a composed 3-0 win against a good Aylestone side.

It was the Shiners’ fourth clean sheet of the bounce as South Normanton stayed second in the league.

Normanton must now take this big game performance into another tough game against Radford next week.

Both sides started the first half nervy and Lee Fell missed a good chance to put South Normanton ahead on 13 minutes.

But Normanton’s pressure paid off on 19 minutes when Kyle Johnson finished well from eight yards out.

It was 2-0 just before the break when great football by Normanton down the right wing saw the ball fall to Luke Crosby who slid home from nine yards.

After the break Aylestone Park started the better and Normanton were entrenched in their own half for the first 20 minutes.

But attack after attack was snuffed out by some brilliant defending and, if they got by the defence, Normanton’s keeper Ste Smith was more than equal.

It was goal game over on 70 minutes when Lee Fell turned on the corner of the box, beat his man and scored an excellent goal.
