The Spireites said in a statement: “Today’s game at Aldershot Town in the Buildbase FA Trophy has been postponed after a member of the Chesterfield squad developed Covid-19 symptoms and is awaiting results of a PCR test.

“A further announcement will be made in due course.”

It is believed that if the same player who has developed symptoms returns a negative test then the cup tie could be rearranged for this coming Tuesday.

However, if a positive test is returned then the players and management will have to self-isolate for 10 days.

The two teams are set to face each other again on Tuesday at Aldershot in the National League but the cup game will take priority, meaning the league fixture would have to be rescheduled.
