Chesterfield 'really efficient' in win against King's Lynn Town to maintain 100% start to National League campaign

Kabongo Tshimanga scored both goals, first from the penalty spot on 16 minutes after Liam Mandeville was fouled and then poking in from close-range inside the first 60 seconds of the second-half.

The win maintains the Spireites’ 100 per cent start to the new season and they are still yet to concede a goal.

“It was a really good performance, a really efficient away performance,” Rowe said.

"We let them have the ball in certain areas, they can have a thousand passes around the back but when they came into the top end of that middle third we really turned it over really well.

"We countered excellently, I think the scoreline would have been higher if that final decision or that final finish was better. They are the only things I can nit-pick on really.

"We wanted to start the second-half quickly and it is something we have worked on to get George (Carline) round the back on the diagonal to Kabongo so that was a great goal for us.”

When asked what the most pleasing part of the performance was, Rowe explained: “There was a nice variety to our game but ultimately the main thing was where we pressed the ball today and how dominant we were going to be in that middle third and we were. I think we are adapting to the opponents but also our DNA is clear.”

Manny Oyeleke (calf) and Jeff King (knock) were not in the squad but Rowe expects him to be fit for Bromley on Saturday.

Carline, Jak McCourt, Liam Mandeville and Stefan Payne came into the starting line-up and Rowe was pleased with the impacts they had.

Despite the strong start to the season, the manager insists they will keep grounded.

He added: "To get three wins on the bounce is really strong from us, three two-nil wins, but we won’t get carried away it is only the third game of the season. It is a really good start but that is all it is.

"We are showing different ways of winning games, different personnel and impacts off the bench too.”
