The Spireites boss has brought in someone who has connections to his former club Aldershot Town on an interim basis.

Rowe said the sports science role will be a permanent position for whoever takes it on, although any big changes will probably not happen until the summer.

On the interim appointment, Rowe said: “He was available by chance. The players have really taken to him but I am not sure what his future holds because his family is in South Africa so that is a decision for him to make if we were in a position to offer anyone that permanent position. At the moment interim works well for him.

“Curtis does help him on a daily basis as well so I think it is a happy place at the moment.”

He added: “It is an area that I want to develop in the club. The sports science side has not been up to scratch with regards to individual programmes in settling into the schedule we have got.

“We need more of a strength and conditioning base for the players so they can get their individual programmes in but it is difficult now with the fixtures to know when to integrate it so the players aren’t too tired.

“I would imagine whoever takes that post permanently will have the biggest impact in the summer.”
