Snow falls across parts of Chesterfield as temperatures set to drop overnight

Although much of Derbyshire basked in glorious sunshine on Easter Sunday, an Arctic cold blast has sent people shivering back indoors over the past two days.
Pictures sent to the Derbyshire Times show wintry showers falling across Chesterfield this afternoon, something which had not been predicted by Met Office forecasters who mentioned cloudy conditions which will change to sunny intervals by early evening.

Hide AdTemperatures will dip from around 11pm tonight, with a widespread sharp frost developing early into Wednesday morning.
It will remain bitterly cold with lows of -2°C expected until around 7am tomorrow, although forecasters say it will feel more like -6°C.
The Met Office said: “Plenty of morning sunshine on Wednesday. Some cloudier conditions in the afternoon, though remaining dry and bright. Less cold than previous days. A chance of patchy rain overnight. Maximum temperature 8 °C.”
