Derbyshire roadworks: Drivers set for disruption on busy roads across Chesterfield, Matlock, Alfreton, Belper, Heanor and more – including the A61, A619 and A6

Motorists will face delays and disruption on a number of busy routes across Derbyshire – amid a series of roadworks and closures.

A number of roadworks are underway along the A619 Chesterfield Road between Brimington and Staveley – with the last of these set to be completed by September 18.

Motorists may encounter disruption on Mansfield Road, between Alfreton and South Normanton, with works underway until September 15.

Delays are likely along the A61 High Street at Clay Cross, with works taking place on the roundabout at Harris Way until October 11.

Drivers may face delays along Chesterfield Road and Bakewell Road in Matlock, with roadworks underway until September 6 and September 20 respectively.

Disruption is also possible along the A6 Dale Road South, between Matlock and Darley Dale, until September 6 – with roadworks taking place along the route.

Oker Road, between Matlock and Darley Bridge, is a long term closure – with investigations into a landslip taking place.

Lees Road, between Stanton Lees and Birchover, is closed until December 2024 – with a landslip occurring along the route.

Commonside Road at Barlow also remains shut until October 2024 due to a landslip.

There will be road closures in place throughout Belper town centre on Sunday, September 8 for the town’s food festival.

Between 6.00am and 6.00pm the following roads will be closed:

King Street from its junction with Market Head to its junction with Chapel Street.

Campbell Street from its junction with King Street to its junction with New Road.

Strutt Street from its junction with King Street to the Co-op car park entrance.

Green Lane from its junction with King Street to the Green Lane Car Park entrance. Green Lane car park will also be closed to the public during this time. Access will still be available to the Co-op car park from New Road.

Between September 2 and 8 in Heanor, work will be taking place along High Street/A6007 and a number of side road junctions – including East Nelson Street and Park Street. Temporary traffic lights will be in operation.

A series of roadworks are likely to lead to delays for drivers on Derby Road between Ripley and Holbrook until January 2025.
