Officers have called on witnesses to come forward as they investigate an assault on a woman in a Derbyshire town.

Derbyshire Police are investigating an incident that saw a woman in her 40s assaulted in Long Eaton. The attack took place on Wednesday, July 3 in Lower Brook Street – close to the old fountain.

A force spokesperson said: “The incident involved a woman who was assaulted by a man, also in his 40s, who was wearing blue joggers with white stripes down the side, a black North Face hooded top, a black baseball cap and black trainers.

“A man from Long Eaton has been arrested in connection with the incident and has been released on police bail.

“Officers are keen to speak to anyone who saw anything between 3.20pm and 5.30pm.”
