Sadness as Derbyshire pub closes due to 'lack of support'

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our customers, friends and the local community for your support, kindness and loyalty.”

A Derbyshire village pub has closed its doors due to a ‘lack of support’.

The Bulls Head in Denby broke the sad news on Facebook on Sunday, October 25, thanking their loyal customers and local community for their support and kindness.

The venue, owned by Star Pubs, issued the following statement: “We are incredibly sorry to announce that The Bulls Head, Denby, has had to close its doors due to a lack of support.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our customers, friends and the local community for your support, kindness and loyalty during our time here.

“It has meant the world to us and we are truly grateful.

“We hope you can understand our decision and thank you once again for being part of our journey.”

The pub, which has closed immediately following the announcement, added that refunds would be issued for customers who paid for their Christmas bookings.

Star Pubs, a part of the Heineken brand, said they would carry out a major refurbishment at the Denby pub and look for new owners to take over in the future.

The Bulls Head, which first opened its doors in the late 19th century, has changed hands multiple times over the last decade.

It was forced to close during the Covvid-19 pandemic and then again in 2024.

The venue re-opened under the new management team at the end of March, only six months ago.
