DERBYSHIRE ELECTIONS LIVE 2021: Victory for Conservatives as party remains in power of county council

Counting started at 10am, after residents in Derbyshire went to the polls yesterday and, with all the results now in, it has been revealed that the Conservative Party will remain in control of Derbyshire County Council, with 45 seats.

A final declaration on the results of the Police and Crime Commissioner elections is expected later today.

It comes after a number of high profile politicians visited the county during the run up to the election, with the Prime Minister visiting a farm in Stoney Middleton two weeks ago.

Residents to find out results of district/borough council by-elections

There were by-elections in the Dales, Bolsover, North East Derbyshire, Erewash and in South Derbyshire yesterday.

While the Conservatives have retained all four South Derbyshire District Council seats, we are still waiting for the results for the remaining by elections.

The Tories have secured all four seats again and are now tied with Labour with 15 councillors each.

Derbyshire residents went to the polls yesterday to cast their vote

Yesterday, people voted to chose their representatives for Derbyshire County Council and the region’s Police and Crime Commissioner.

Today, we will find out which politicians have been elected with the first results expected to start coming in from 10.30am.

Votes to start being counted from 10am

Counting for the Derbyshire County Council election votes will begin at 10am this morning according to the local authority.

Results will then start to be declared across the county after that, with a final declaration expected later this afternoon.
