DERBYSHIRE ELECTIONS LIVE 2021: Victory for Conservatives as party remains in power of county council

Counting started at 10am, after residents in Derbyshire went to the polls yesterday and, with all the results now in, it has been revealed that the Conservative Party will remain in control of Derbyshire County Council, with 45 seats.
A final declaration on the results of the Police and Crime Commissioner elections is expected later today.

Hide AdIt comes after a number of high profile politicians visited the county during the run up to the election, with the Prime Minister visiting a farm in Stoney Middleton two weeks ago.

Conservatives gain seat in Clay Cross North
The Conservatives have gained a seat in Clay Cross North, winning it off Labour.
Labour councillor Brian Wright had not stood for re-election in that ward, but had won the seat by nearly 300 votes in 2017.
The Conservatives had been in third place in 2017, behind the Liberal Democrats, who have dropped to third this time around, Derbyshire Local Democracy Reporter Eddie Bisknell reports.

As of 11:21am the results for the Derbyshire County Council elections are as follows (when looking at number of seats won):
Conservatives - 4
Green - 0
Labour - 1
Liberal Democrats - 0

Counting has now started in Swadlincote for the eight county council divisions
The Conservatives currently hold seven South Derbyshire council divisions and Labour hold one - Swadlincote North.
Duffield in Amber Valley still said to be on the cards as a major swing from Conservatives to the Green Party, with potentially the first ever Green county councillor.
