A resident has been left perplexed after seeing the mysterious bright object – which was said to be stationary at first but then shot off at ‘incredible and breathtaking’ speed.
The Matlock resident, who has requested anonymity, said: “Just after 10.30pm on February 27, I was in my back garden having a cigarette when I noticed a bright object in the sky.

“It's difficult to say how high, far away or how big it was.
“I recorded the object on my smartphone, set to full zoom, for just over one minute.
“I have no idea what I saw and I would not like to speculate, apart from to say it was a very unusual looking object – one like I have never seen before.
“All I can say is the thing was a bright, circular, reddish, peachy-coloured object, with a brighter red glow around the outside of it.

“The speed at which it shot off at was simply too fast for it to be any kind of conventional aircraft or object.”
Also in Matlock on that same night, Stephanie Marsden took a picture through her car windscreen which showed what looked like a flying saucer – but as we reported over the weekend, UFO expert Nick Pope believes it was a reflection.
