Plans passed for new martial arts academy in Chesterfield

Chesterfield Borough Council has told Squad Jiu Jitsu that it can transform a former storage unit at Cavendish Business Park in Whitting Valley Road, Old Whittington, into its base.

Hide AdA spokesperson for Squad Jiu Jitsu said: “Squad Jiu Jitsu are currently based in Chesterfield, renting space from an unsustainable and unreliable location in a larger commercial gym.
“In order to continue to accommodate students and to train athletes for national level competitions, the club requires its own space.
“The club runs classes for adults and children and also personal training sessions for all ages and abilities.

Hide Ad“By gaining its own space, the club hopes to enhance what it already provides and offer more classes and flexibility to students.”
They added that jobs would be created thanks to the club having a new base.
A number of residents supported the club’s proposals and urged the council to approve the planning application.
