Peak District summer solstice gathering sparks police plea

Police have issued a warning to anyone planning to attend a summer solstice gathering today in the Peak District.

The event takes place annually at the Nine Ladies Stone Circle, on Stanton Moor, but officers say people should expect it to be different this year because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Derbyshire police said people must follow social distancing guidelines and keep at least two metres apart.

“Camping at the site is not allowed and officers will be enforcing parking restrictions,” the force said.
