PC Eleanor Kirton, of Derbyshire Constabulary, said: “We've carried out a number of checks to find relatives but sadly haven’t been able to.

“The last thing we want is for a relative to find out about Mr Clay’s death online but it’s important that we try to find any surviving next of kin,” she added.

Anyone who recognises Mr Clay or has any information which could help police should call 101, quoting reference number 20*285575.

They can also contact the force online through its website or social media channels.
