North Derbyshire town clears hurdle to bid for share of £3.6bn regeneration fund
Plans to regenerate Clay Cross by bidding for a share of a £3.6bn Government towns fund have moved a step closer.
North East Derbyshire District Council has revealed it has appointed consultants Nexus to prepare an ‘investment plan’ for the town.
Council chiefs are now asking residents to have their say on the proposals – saying public consultation is a vital element of a successful bid for the cash.

Leader of North East Derbyshire District Council, Councillor Martin Thacker, said: “We are delighted to be working with Nexus to deliver the Clay Cross Investment Plan.
“They have a proven track record of success and we are confident they will provide what is needed to secure significant investment for Clay Cross.
“It is incredibly important the right plan is put in place for the town, with input from residents and businesses alike to work together and create a successful bid for the Government’s town fund which Clay Cross deserves to create new opportunities and investment.”
It was reveealed last year thet Clay Cross and Staveley were among the 100 places invited to develop proposals for a new generation of multi-million-pound Town Deals.
The investment plan will provide the information required for North East Derbyshire District Council to bid into the national Government’s £3.6bn Towns Fund and secure regeneration cash.
North East Derbyshire District Council has also formed a Clay Cross Town Board, bringing together partners across the public and private sectors.
