Much-loved woman who died in Chesterfield flat fire named

A much-loved young woman who tragically died in a Chesterfield flat fire has been named as an inquest opened into her death today.

Emily Walsh, 34, sadly died at her home on Seaton Court, Devonshire Close, Newbold, at 9.20pm on Saturday.

Chesterfield coroners’ court was told today that a post-mortem took place on Monday, and the cause of death was ‘inhalation of products of consumption pending further tests’.

Adjourning the inquest, assistant coroner Emma Serrano expressed her deepest condolences to Emily’s family.

A Derbyshire Constabulary spokesperson said yesterday: “We believe the fire was started by a naked flame and our investigations are ongoing.

“We would like to thank those members of the public who have come forward with information to date and ask anyone who is yet to speak to us to get in touch.”
