“Access to the track up Long Causeway was gained and the casualty and friend was found the wrong side of the stile after contouring under High Neb to the Causeway. The climber was treated with strong pain relief while team members realigned the ankle and secured it with a vacuum splint.

“He was then able to, with help from the team, get in to the rear of Derwent Mobile five, where he was conveyed back down the track to Dennis Knoll.

“After a short wait for the ambulance he was relocated on board for the journey to Northern General Hospital Sheffield and further treatment.

“It must be said, the climber although in a lot of pain had managed to straighten his own ankle just after he fell, and with help from his mate and some passing climbers, managed to be helped all the way off, to the Causeway stile.”
