The UK is spending the holiday in lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus, protect the NHS and save lives.

A Derbyshire Constabulary spokesperson said: “We know this isn’t the Bank Holiday weekend we’d been looking forward to. We know you want to see your friends and family. We know it’s hard.

“But we also know, we’re all in this together, and the more we stay home, the quicker we will hopefully get back to normal.

“This Easter weekend it’s very important that we still stick by the Government guidelines and unfortunately this year includes missing out on things such as visiting your holiday home and not getting to celebrate with friends and family.

“As a reminder, current Covid-19 guidance is that we must only go outside for food, health reasons or work (only if you cannot work from home); if you go out, stay two metres (six feet) away from other people at all times; wash your hands; not meet others, even friends or family.

“We know how nice it would be to celebrate Easter surrounded by friends, enjoying a drink, BBQ or roast dinner together, but please realise that these guidelines are not in place to reduce your fun.

“They are in place for your safety, your loved one’s safety, and the safety of all the key workers that are still working tirelessly keeping the country running.
