Coronavirus claims lives of two patients at Chesterfield Royal Hospital

Two patients have sadly died at Chesterfield Royal Hospital after testing positive for Covid-19.

The Derbyshire Times has been sent two statements from Angie Smithson, chief executive for Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Trust, dated March 27.

The first statement said: “Sadly, we can confirm that a patient in their 70s with an underlying health condition, who had tested positive for Covid-19, has passed away at Chesterfield Royal Hospital.

“Our thoughts and condolences remain with the patient’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.”

The second statement said: “Sadly, we can confirm that a patient in their 80s with an underlying health condition, who had tested positive for Covid-19, has passed away at Chesterfield Royal Hospital.

“Our thoughts and condolences remain with the patient’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.”

According to the latest Government figures, there are 315 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Derbyshire overall – 210 in Derbyshire county and 105 in Derby city.
