Chesterfield taxi driver gives update about ‘unfair’ parking fine

As reported on Monday, Alnoor Mamdani told the Derbyshire Times he let a customer out at McDonald’s at the town’s Alma Leisure Park then ‘immediately’ left the Derby Road site to carry on with his job.
He then received a letter from the firm which manages the car park claiming he ‘exceeded the five-hour maximum stay allowed’ – and demanding payment of £100 within 28 days.

Hide AdAlnoor – who says he returned to the site in the afternoon and again left ‘immediately’ – believes a camera at the car park got a shot of him entering but not exiting in the morning.
He is now in the process of appealing.
The 58-year-old, who works for City Taxis, said on Wednesday: “I’ve heard from the parking firm and they say it’s under review – it’s got to go to a review board.
“I’ve got evidence that I wasn’t at the site for all that time – I was out and about in my taxi serving customers.
“It’s madness.”
Commenting on Monday’s story on our social media pages, one reader said: “This happened to someone I know. He went in twice in one day – they took his first arrival time and last departure time and sent him a fine.”

Hide AdAnother added: “They (the car park company) need to change their policies to support the firms on that park.”
Lancashire-based HX Car Park Management Ltd, which manages the car park at Alma Leisure Park, has not responded to the Derbyshire Times’ request for a comment.
