A video released yesterday shows people in Chesterfield having their pictures taken for the project which will see selfies from 1,200 people in the town form a giant mosaic.

The project is starting to come together, with residents and visitors posing with local landmark backgrounds to be included in the new ‘Love Chesterfield Mosaic’ piece which is being created by Chesterfield Borough Council to celebrate the growth and prosperity of the town.

Once complete, the artwork will be displayed in Chesterfield's new Northern Gateway Enterprise Centre – one of the town’s latest developments that are underway as part of the borough’s £1 billion growth programme.

The council is working in partnership with Markham Vale based digital marketing company Noonah to run a virtual photo booth throughout August where people can submit their photographs or selfies online.

On Saturday, August 14, people can have their picture taken and printed out for them to place on the mosaic by going down to New Square between 9am and 5pm.

Residents and visitors were invited to take part in the project by posing for a selfie on Tuesday, August 10 as the council held an in person event in Market Square next to McDonalds.

The Love Chesterfield Mosaic Virtual Photo Booth will also be available for residents and visitors to upload their own photo or scan a QR code which will be displayed in shop windows around the town centre.

People must be over 18 or have the permission of a parent or guardian, to submit a photo to be included in the artwork.

Images will also be moderated before they are used as part of the project and all pictures must be submitted by August 31.

You can visit the Love Chesterfield Mosaic Virtual Photo Booth here to take a selfie today, where all images will be featured as part of the public art installation.
