Katie Waine will take part in the virtual London Marathon on October 3.

Just like last year, because of the pandemic, the 2021 London Marathon is to be a virtual event, meaning people can run it where they live or at beauty spots near and far.

Katie, 40, of Walton, is raising money for Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

She said: “The hospital and ward six, which is the oncology ward, have been treating my friend’s baby since she was six-weeks-old.

“Due to this hospital and the amazing team on ward six, my friend’s baby has just turned one against all odds.

“She lives in Holymoorside and I have been lucky enough to join her for her birthday.

“Please support me in this marathon and therefore support other children with cancer and their families."

Katie added: “I’m running the virtual London Marathon around Chesterfield, ending at the football stadium – please feel free to come down for the end or support me along the way.

“This is my first marathon and I’m running with my with my nine-month-old, Isaac, in his running buggy.”

Katie, her partner Rob and Isaac were featured in the Derbyshire Times at the start of the year as Isaac was born on New Year’s Day.

Katie has already raised more than £750 for the hospital.
