Chesterfield Elder Way: Boss ‘confident’ firms will be interested after revamp and lockdown easing

The multi-million pound Elder Way development has already seen the first and second floors of the town’s old Co-op department store transformed into a Premier Inn hotel, which opened in 2019.
As we move on from the pandemic, there is a new appeal for businesses to fill basement and ground floor units in the building.

Hide AdIt comes as a revamp has seen improvements made to Elder Way – including the placing of high-quality paving and the planting of trees.
Mark Hill, commercial property director at Jomast Developments – the company behind the conversion of the old Co-op – told the Derbyshire Times: “The recently completed improvements to Elder Way, made as part of the Revitalising the Heart of Chesterfield project, have transformed the area.
“The new ‘boulevard-style’ pedestrianised eating area outside the building has created an attractive environment in the town.
“I am confident the completion of the outdoor improvements, together with the full lifting of lockdown restrictions, will lead to renewed interest in the units at Elder Way from food and drink businesses in the area and further afield.”

Hide AdThe Co-op conversion is part of the £19.9million Northern Gateway project.
This has already seen a new multi-storey car park open at Saltergate – and an enterprise centre consisting of new offices is set to launch on part of the Donut roundabout later this year.
