David Alan Garbett, 43, of Ashcroft Court, Old Whittington, would take any drugs he ‘could get his hands on’ including heroin, cocaine and mamba, Chesterfield coroners’ court heard today (Thursday, August 20).
He died at Chesterfield Royal Hospital on April 13 this year from a bleed on his brain caused by drug misuse, after paramedics had been called to his flat by concerned neighbours.

She said he had a poor diet and would survive on Pot Noodles, bread and occasionally fish and chips.
The inquest heard the only ‘high points’ in his life were when he was able to obtain drugs.
Mr Garbett had been known to the substance misuse service since 2009 but they had found it difficult to treat him because of the ‘chaotic lifesyle’ he led.

Mr Garbett was taken to the Royal where he underwent scans but he was sadly pronounced dead at about 6pm on April 13.
He had suffered an acute bleed on the brain and tests found methadone, cocaine, opiates and Pregabalin in his system.
Recording a verdict of a drug related death, Derbyshire assistant coroner Emma Serrano offered her condolences to Mr Garbett’s family.
