The hospice’s chief executive Barbara-Anne Walker says Ashgate has never faced an emergency like this in its thirty-year history, as the service quickly adapts to changes in the face of the pandemic.

Measures already taken include creating a segregated section of its in patient unit at the main hospice in Old Brampton to look after end of life patients with coronavirus; reducing visitor numbers to help control the spread of infection and setting up a team to monitor the supply of PPE.
