Many of you would like to see car parking charges axed. Amanda Holmes said: "In town today 25 minutes exactly cost me £1.60. No wonder everywhere is closing and we're not getting visitors from out of town." Chesterfield folk are reminded to use their residents' permit, which entitles them to park for free in most car parks before 10am and after 3pm Monday to Saturday and all day on Sundays and Bank Holidays. Indeed, nobody wants to see people becoming homeless and sleeping on the streets. Councillor Chris Ludlow, Chesterfield Borough Council's cabinet member for housing, said: "The way in which the council and our partners have come together to ensure we could house all of the borough's rough sleepers through the period of the Covid-19 lockdown has been nothing short of outstanding. Through a number of schemes and partnership working, we have successfully prevented 295 individuals and families from becoming homeless by providing them with the support they need or offering them temporary accommodation."
