New Italian restaurant in Chesterfield receiving rave reviews

Cipollini, based above All Saints Tap on St Mary’s Gate, opened in August and has a botanical gin room.

The food outlet has been reviewed 28 times on TripAdvisor so far and here’s what people have said...

One woman called Lynn, from Derbyshire, posted: “First visit here, went with 3 other ladies on a Tuesday evening. Good service and very nice food. Huge plate of ribs to start (in a very tasty sauce and very tender) followed by mushroom risotto which was delicious. The other choices were good too. Surprisingly busy for a Tuesday early evening. We were offered complimentary limoncello shots after our meal which was a nice touch (except unfortunately they ran out of limoncello so we only got a mouthful each!!) There is a spacious bar downstairs offering lots of gins! Service was a little slow there after the meal.”

Another user of Tripadvisor, using the name allhass, from Matlock, wrote: “Booked after reading review in Reflections magazine. Table of five went and all agreed it was a fantastic meal. Added bonus was that drinks weren’t overpriced which made for terrific value. Definitely coming back again soon!”

Another reviewer, using the name simkazChesterfield, said: “This was my first visit. A beautiful restaurant with a nice atmosphere. More spacious than I thought. The music downstairs was great. The staff were attentive and very friendly. Food was quick to be served, very tasty, very generous portions and good value for money. I will definitely visit again. The only thing I would say is that it needs to be advertised more from the outside as I only spotted it on Facebook.”

Posting about her time at the restaurant, Shookie62, wrote: “This was my first visit to this restaurant - the decor is fab - very modern which I love - friendly welcome from the bar staff - asked if there was a table free as we hadn’t booked - we had to wait for approximately 15 mins so got drinks at the bar - great service- was shown to our table in the restaurant - great atmosphere - we’d chosen from the tapas menu as didn’t know what to expect. What a great choice it was too.

“We all enjoyed the evening so much we will be making this a regular visit.

“Many thanks to the staff for a fab evening. Would highly recommend.”

Another person, under the name E1mer24, commented: “Enjoyed Sunday lunch here as an extended family - all comfortably seated around one large table. Lovely food and attentive service would thoroughly recommend. Liked the decor and the ambiance.”

And Jennie, from San Francisco, said: “Part of me doesn’t want to share this review as when we return it will be so much busier. We visited as a group on Sunday and had emailed Lucia several times prior to the visit and she always promptly responded to my emails, discussing food, times, menus etc. When we arrived the table was all laid out and ready. The service was wonderful, fresh tasty and the right portions. We had pre-ordered and the food was brought out to us personally. We were not rushed and enjoyed a wonderfully leisurely family Sunday. This is a great place to eat and I’d highly recommend it, prices are very good. Thanks guys for looking after us with a top class service.”
