A police cordon is in place and forensic police officers are at the scene of a suspected ‘stabbing’ in north Derbyshire.

Derbyshire police were called to Westthorpe Road, Killamarsh, at about 10pm last night after reports of a disturbance at a house.

A man was then found injured near the junction of Westthorpe Road and Upperthorpe Road and was treated by paramedics, before being taken to hospital.

Several properties in the area have also been placed behind a police cordon.

Killamarsh residents have expressed their shock this morning.

Posting on the Killamarsh Voice Facebook group, Sally Nicholls said: “Oh my word my condolences to the family.”

Other residents on the group asked if the person who had been ‘stabbed’ was ok.

Derbyshire police said there was no update at this stage and investigations were continuing.
