Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service has joined Fire Stoppers a new scheme from independent charity Crimestoppers that allows people to anonymously report information about deliberate fire setting.

The scheme aims to make it easier for residents to relay information about arson attacks as Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service warned that dealing with small deliberate fires stretch their already ‘limited’ resources.

In a statement, the county’s fire and rescue service said: “Even small outdoor fires can be dangerous, because they place additional stress on our limited resources – dealing with a nuisance fire affects our ability to respond to more serious incidents like house fires or road traffic accidents.”
