Cyclist in critical condition after serious crash in Derbyshire

A man has been left fighting for his life after being involved in a serious collision with a car on Tuesday afternoon in Derbyshire.

Derbyshire police said the incident occurred while the 67-year-old man was cycling along the B6178 Alfreton Road junction with New Inn Lane when he was hit by a Ford Focus.

The cyclist was rushed to Queen's Medical Centre for treatment where he remains in a critical condition.

Officers investigating the case are now appealing for information from the public.

In a statement released on Monday (February 15), the police said: "Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who was driving nearby and has dash cam footage that may be of use to officers is asked to contact Sergeant Craig Walker, quoting reference number 508 of 15 February."
