Police in Chesterfield have released the image of a man they hope to trace, who allegedly threatened a victim and robbed their backpack.

Derbyshire Constabulary published a picture of a man they are trying to identify in connection with an alleged robbery in Chesterfield.

Two friends were waiting for a bus at a stop in Low Pavement at around 4.45pm on Thursday, July 1 who were then approached by a man.

He is claimed to have asked one of the friends for a light for his cigarette.

Once the friend then lit the stranger’s cigarette for him, it is believed that the men then threatened the victim and demanded his backpack before taking it and running off down the street.

The man was then seen getting on the number 77 bus.
