Matlock is undoubtedly one of the best places that I have ever visited across Derbyshire – with this picturesque town offering something to satisfy everyone’s tastes.
Whether you’re searching for great pubs, popular restaurants, scenic views or unique events, Matlock has you covered – and these are some of the reasons why I think you should visit the town the next time you find yourself in Derbyshire.

9. Visit one of England’s most scenic football grounds
I can’t talk about Matlock without recommending a visit to Matlock Town FC and their stunning Causeway Lane ground. If you’re a football fan, Matlock Town is the perfect place to enjoy a couple of drinks and some great food, while taking in the amazing views on offer at the far end of the ground. I’ve been to plenty of places to watch football, and I’m not certain that it gets much more scenic than this. Photo: Tom Hardwick

10. Public transport
It is easy to reach Matlock via public transport - with trains running along the Derwent Valley line from Derby, and buses from the likes of Chesterfield, Bakewell, Alfreton and Ashbourne. Photo: Rachel Atkins
