First death of Covid 19 patient since July at Chesterfield Royal Hospital

The latest death was recorded in the last week, a hospital spokesperson told the Derbyshire Times on Tuesday.
Before then, no coronavirus-related deaths had been announced by the Royal since July 31.

Hide AdA total of 140 Covid-19 patients have now passed away at the hospital.
At noon on Tuesday, staff at the Royal were caring for seven patients with the virus.
The hospital spokesperson said: “These are still relatively small numbers here compared with the April height when we had 80 patients in at one stage across three Covid-19 wards and the intensive treatment unit.
“Like the rest of the NHS, we remain on a national incident alert and have operational plans in place to manage ‘normal’ winter admissions and any potential rise in Covid-19.”

Hide AdSince the end of March, 587 people have been discharged from the Royal after being treated for coronavirus.
The latest available data shows there were 18 positive cases of the virus in Chesterfield between September 19 and 25, up six from the previous week.
The infection rate for this period was 17 cases per 100,000 people. The average area in England had 26.
In total, there have been 6,170 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Derbyshire county and Derby city.
