A historic Derbyshire building which was home to a popular Italian restaurant until it was gutted by fire is up for auction.

The former Bella Blu restaurant on Market Place in Bolsover is set to go under the hammer later this month, with a guide price of just £125,000.

Flames tore through the impressive three-storey stone building, which stands close to Bolsover Castle and according to Bella Blu’s website is more than 450 years old, in October 2018 and the restaurant never reopened.

A ‘complete restoration’ is required, according to the sales brochure, which says that the 600sqm freehold property has ‘excellent potential’ and would be suitable for a ‘variety of uses’.

The building is one of 42 lots listed for sale by Mark Jenkinson & Son at an auction which is due to take place on Tuesday, October 20, at The Platinum Suite, within Sheffield United’s Bramall Lane stadium.
