New bar plans for well-known former Chesterfield town centre restaurant

Chesterfield Borough Council will decide whether to give the proposal for the old Rising Sun Chinese restaurant, on Holywell Street, the green light.

Plans for the site include alterations to the rear extension and development of the existing rear garden.

The agent for the owner of the building, Glyn Dyer Design Ltd, says in planning documents that the Rising Sun will be converted into ‘The Dirty Habit’ bar.

Documents add: “Proposed works include new shopfront windows and door, alterations to existing rear ‘lean-to’ extension and development of the existing rear garden.”

The plans say the bar would be open from 11am-1am, Monday to Saturday, and have three full-time staff and eight other part-time employees.

Proposals include a felt roof for the lean-to extension and n artificial lawn to the rear garden which would be lit by halogen lighting.
