Derbyshire teenagers are invited to apply for BFI Film Academy course

Teenagers who are passionate about film and want to find out more about the industry are invited to apply for a new course in Derbyshire.

QUAD in Derby will host the BFI Film Academy course which is open to applicants aged 16 to 19 years.

Students of the BFI Film Academy course will work alongside industry professionals, including hands-on filmmaking experience to enable developing practical knowledge and skills. The unique course offers an opportunity for students to explore their own creativity in a supportive and dynamic environment. Students will also gain an Arts Award Bronze and become part of the BFI Film Academy Alumni, offering access to exclusive opportunities, advice, and professional development.

The BFI Film Academy course will take place every Saturday from January 9 to March 20, 2021. Due to Covid-19, the course will take place initially via Zoom until January 16 and then in-person workshops at QUAD. The workshops will follow social-distancing guidelines and are subject to change due to government restrictions. All participants will also receive online support via email.

Applications close on December 23, 2020 at 5pm.

Young people can apply to attend the course through a simple application form, course fees are £25; bursaries are available for course fees or additional support for educational or disability needs. The course is eligible to students in sixth form or on further education courses, but not those already studying at university.
