Bands play at 40s-style dance in aid of Nenna Kind Cancer Support Centre

Forties music including Latin, sequence, swing and lindy hop will be aired by bands at a fundraising dance in aid of a cancer support centre.

The 14-piece Ashby Big Band and the seven-piece Swingamathing will play at Chesterfield’s Winding Wheel on Saturday, June 20, at 7.30pm.

Composed of musicians from all over the Midlands, The Ashby Big Band’s gig list includes Ramsgate Operation Dynamo Concert commmemorating the Dunkirk evacuation of the Second World War and the Guernsey Liberation Ball.

Swingamathing plays jazz and swing music from the Forties.

Proceeds from the dance will go the Nenna Kind Cancer Support Centre’s Weston Park Hospital transport appeal.
