Redrow Midlands, which is currently building Radbourne View in Derby, is calling on the town’s youngsters to design a house suitable for 2126 – some 100 years from now.

Whether it’s wallpaper that changes depending on your mood, a fridge that restocks automatically or a bathroom that cleans itself, the design must suit the needs of ultra-modern family life while being energy efficient and built sustainably.

The role is open to four-to-16-year-olds across the region. They will need to submit their ‘house of the future’ design to [email protected].

The winning archi-tot will not only receive a £100 prize but will also see their design planted in a time capsule in the ground at Radbourne View, ready to be unearthed 50 years from now.

Imaginative youngsters across the region have until midnight on Friday 30th October to submit their entries. The winner will join other successful archi-tots chosen by Redrow regions across the UK, with one overall champion to be announced later this year.

Joanne Watson, Sales Director for Redrow Midlands, said: “With the deadline fast approaching, this is the last chance for Derbyshire’s creative youngsters to get involved and show us what they think a home could look like in 100 years. We can’t wait to see your designs!

“Here at Redrow Midlands, we’re committed to bringing young people into the construction sector and are recognised by the industry for our training excellence and apprenticeship programme. What better way to celebrate local talent and showcase the wonderful imagination and creative abilities of the next generation?

“We’ve already been blown away by the imagination of the entries, and we can’t wait to see what more young people come up with. Who knows, your design could help shape the homes of the future!”
