St George's Day Celebration in Derby is cancelled to protect public from coronavirus

Big events in Derby such as the St George’s Day Celebration and the touring Ladyboys of Bangkok have been cancelled or postponed amid measures to protect the public against coronavirus.

Both of these events were due to take place in the market place. The Ladyboys of Bangkok’s Flight of Fantasy show has been rescheduled from March 27 to April 12 to September 25 to October 4 at Bass Recreation Ground. The St George’s Day Celebration on April 18 has been cancelled.

All Parkruns at Markeaton and Alvaston Parks, and Junior Parkrun at Markeaton Park have been temporarily cancelled until further notice.

An Easter egg hunt trail at Markeaton Park from April 4 to 19 has been cancelled.

Derby Walking Festival, due to take place from May 9 to 17, has been postponed with a new date to be confirmed which could be in September depending on the situation over the next 12 weeks.

Derby Arboretum’s Village Fayre on May 10 has been cancelled.

Event organisers are currently liaising with Derby LIVE regarding the Cycle Derby Sportive Spring Classic at Markeaton Park on April 26 and The Big One in Chaddesden Park on June 7.

At Derby Arena, the show Whitney – Queen of the Night has been rescheduled from March 18 to October 8. Queen Machine Symphonia will not go ahead on April 17 and Derby LIVE is working with the promoters to secure a future date for the show. Elvis Tribute Artist World Tour is not going ahead on May 16 and Derby LIVE is working with promoters to postpone this show to a later date.
