The event will be held outdoors at Bolsover Town Football Club’s ground on Moor Lane on September 3 and 4.

Keith Sayer, who is running the festival in aid of the town’s Scouts, said: “Because it’s been a poor year for everyone, we’re turning Saturday into a family day – it’s not just for Scouts, it’s for everybody. It’s about the whole community and trying to bring people together.

"On the stage we’ve got live bands, we’ve got a dance group and cheerleaders showing what they can do. We’ve got all kinds of stalls and we’ve invited the local community groups to come.

The stalls will be open from 10am to 4pm on the Saturday. The beer festival runs from 4pm to 11pm on the Friday and will run until 11pm on the Saturday.

Bands lined up for the opening night include The Suffrajetz and The Crafters.

Thirty barrels of beer are being ordered for the festival. Switch Electrical Supplies Ltd, which is based at the Markham business park, have sponsored the gin bar and a barrel of beer. NAL Plant Hire at Bolsover have sponsored the cider bar.

This will be the third Bolsover Beer Festival. The event began in 2018 and was held at the Blue Bell, where the then landlord, Frank Lancaster, helped to organise it. The following year the festival moved to the Coalite club, which has since been demolished. Last year’s festival was cancelled because of the Covid pandemic.

Proceeds from previous festivals have gone towards funding the Scout troop’s outdoor activities such as kayaking and climbing.

Festival organiser Keith is Bolsover Scout Group’s leader. The 44-year-old dad lives in the town and works as a lorry driver for the Co-op.

He said: "Hopefully it will be a good weekend – we just need some sun.”
