Brave a ghost walk at spooky Bolsover Castle
The castle is hosting a couple of Halloween events to keep young people entertained during the school holidays.
Spooky Bolsover Castle, running from October 24 to November 1 between 11am and 4pm, invites families to follow the trail to solve creepy clues and listen to frightningly good stories. There’s a fun fancy dress competition – so wear your best costumes to be in with a chance of winning a prize.
Older children, aged 16 years and above, and adults are invited to explore Bolsover Castle after dark on half-hourly ghost tours from October 28 to 31 between 5.30pm and 9pm.
Storytellers will be guiding groups on a bone-chilling journey through the past as they share tales of ghosts, supernatural sightings and horrors from history. Don’t forget to bring a torch along on a night for brave explorers.
Workers at the castle reported mysterious footsteps and muffled voices, slamming doors, cold sensations, and even being pushed. Night security guards have been alarmed by unexplained lights while a little boy has been seen holding the hands of visitors who are unaware of his presence. When locking up late one night, one member of staff heard a scream which got louder as she walked away from the castle but on her return she found no-one there.
