VIDEO: Outlines music festival; debuts in Sheffield

Outlines, a mini winter Tramlines festival, rolls into Sheffield this weekend - helping to put established names, breaking bands and associated films.on the track to stardom.

The new, one-day festival - dreamed up by the brains behind Tramlines - aims to add a dose of winter festival fun to some of the city's finest venues on Saturday, February 27.

Venues includie The Harley, Queens Social Club, Plug, O2 Academy and Skate Central's roller rink, where the shows come complete with skates.

The 2016 lineup will feature UK hip-hop pioneer Roots Manuva, Psychedelic rock band TOY, post-punk icons Gang of Four, electronic pop upstart Shura and BBC Sound of 2016 longlister Loyle Carner.

Outside of the music, there'll also be the chance to check out a bumper crop of pop-up film screenings, sample the wares of some of Sheffield's independent food and drink experts and pick up some exclusive artwork by local illustrators.

For tickets, lineup and latest news, visit outlinesfestival.comTOY will play the festival’s roller disco venue, where they will appear alongside Gang of Four, indie-rock upstarts The Big Moon and brooding garage-pop quartet PINS, amongst others.

The new festival comes from the makers of the critically acclaimed Tramlines, which attracts over 150,000 visitors to Sheffield each year and has hosted shows from artists including alt-j, the xx, AlunaGeorge, Public Enemy, Lianne La Havas, Neneh Cherry, Basement Jaxx, Buzzcocks, Gold Panda, The Gaslamp Killer, Evian Christ, The Selecter and many more.

Organisers have also announced the addition of a brand-new venue, DINA, which will host a day-to-night showcase from cutting-edge experimental labels.

Innovative trio Blood Sport will perform as part of the event, celebrating the launch of their forthcoming new EP with a set of their own locked rhythms and kraut-rock grooves.

A final injection of home-grown talent will see melancholic disco outfit Blessa and irrepressible funk/afrobeat 9-piece KOG & The Zongo Brigade join the bill at o2 Academy, where there will also be performances from the likes of Georgia and Pumarosa.

Outlines' Head of Programming Kate Hewett said: "We’re thrilled to have added the incredible TOY to the lineup. The roller disco at Skate Central is set to be a real highlight of the festival and it’s great to be able to give music-lovers the chance to catch some bands in a space that’s a bit out of the ordinary."

Outside of the music, festival-goers will also have the chance to check out a range of music shorts - programmed in collaboration with Sensoria Festival of film and music - and food and drink from some of Sheffield’s independent retailers.
