Mr Way has also written some timeless rock classics which still sound good after all these years.

His show at Chesterfield's Real Time Live was a whistlestop tour of Way’s career and the crowd loved every minute of it, whooping, cheering and singing along.

For me, the track of the night was a song from Way’s new album Walking On The Edge called Narcotics which was poignant and heartfelt.

Other highlights included the crowd-pleasers American Kid, Drinkin’ Tonight, Too Hot To Handle and Doctor Doctor.

Way gave it everything he could, backed by Jason Poole (bass/vocals), Tim Scopes (lead/slide guitars) and Clive Edwards (drums) who did a great job.

Support bandt were Burnt Out Wreck who were very good and warmed up the crowd nicely.
