Tony Blackburn hosts a night of 60s songs and stories in Sheffield

Legendary DJ Tony Blackburn hosts a Sounds of the 60s LIVE show in Sheffield this year.

The show, which rolls into the City Hall on August 21, features songs, stories and memories from the golden decade of pop with music performed live by the Sounds Of The 60s All Star Band & Singers.

Tony, who turns 79 on January 29, began his broadcasting career with the pirate stations Radio Caroline and Radio London. He was the first DJ to be heard on Radio One in 1967 and later presented the top 40 show on Sundays.

He left BBC Radio 1 after 17 years to join Radio London and worked on the Capital Gold station for 18 years.

Latter years have seen Tony honoured with two lifetime achievement awards from the Radio Academy and continue broadcasting for various radio stations.
