'˜Staveley corridor' community play needs you

A Down The Line community play launch event is to take place at Barrow Hill Memorial Hall, Barrow Hill, Chesterfield on Saturday, March 4, from 12noon-4pm.

Come along and find out how you can take part in a community play, to take place at Barrow Hill Railway Roundhouse Museum in September.

Organisers are looking for actors, singers, musicians, designers, backstage crew and general help. No experience is necessary.

Down The Line performances will be from September 21-23 and the show will feature guest appearances by two of the world’s most famous engines,The Flying Scotsman and “Stephenson’s Rocket.

The show also features Ireland Colliery Brass Band and local community choirs. The show tells the story of the Staveley Corridor area, from the coming of the railways to the present day, and is inspired directly by interviews with local people from playwright Kevin Fegan, who has been especially commissioned to write the show.

Children under 12 attending the launch event must be accompanied by adults. Ireland Colliery Brass Band will be playing at the event and there will be presentations about the play.
