Award-winning pianist Luke Jones gives recital in Derbyshire

An award-winning young pianist who started playing at five years old and has gone onto perform at big venues throughout Europe will be showcasing his talent in Derbyshire.

The programme will include JS Bach’s Italian Concerto in F, BWV 971; Chopin 12 Études, Op. 10; Prokofiev Sonata No. 3 in A minor, Op. 28; Myaskovs Sonata No. 2 in F sharp minor, Op. 13 and Stravinsky Three Movements from ‘Petrushka’.

Luke, who is in his mid-20s, won first prize at the Bromsgrove International Musicians Competition, first prize n "Aci Bertoncelj" International Piano Competition, Slovenia and first prize in Chopin-Roma International Piano Competition, Italy.

HIs performances include the Bridgewater Hall, St David’s Hall and Palau de la musica Catalana and he has played alongside the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Manchester Camerata and Jove Orquestra Nacional de Catalunya.

Luke gained a degree with first class honours at the Royal Northern College of Music and is continuing his studies there on the Masters’ programme.
