Will Harrison, who studied music and drama at Ilkeston School, composed numbers for the musical Tokyo Rose which premiered at the Departure Lounge festival in Derby Theatre two years ago.

His work helped Burnt Lemon Theatre Company win the New Diorama and Underbelly 2019 Untapped Award which gave the troupe a month’s run at the Edinburgh Fringe and a week at the New Diorama Theatre in London in which they sold out every performance in both cities.

During the Fringe the company also won the prestigious Les Enfants Terrible Stepladder Award, which helped the further development of Tokyo Rose.

The musical was due to tour in autumn 2020 but was rescheduled to this year because of the Covid pandemic. The tour will start on September 16, 2021, in Southampton and end on October 30 in Birmingham.

The soundtrack album is now available for streaming or to buy at https://songwhip.com/tokyoroseoriginalcast/tokyo-rose-original-cast-recording.

Will Harrison won Best Film at the British Film Institute in 2018 for The Regular Everyday, which he directed and scored, beating off 3,000 rivals for the award.
