Young golfers are honoured

Matlock Golf Club has held its junior presentation rvening, dinner and AGM.

With the club house full, it was both a memorable and very successful evening, well attended by the club’s junior members, their families, club officials and Matlock Golf Club junior sponsor Peter Morley of Moreclean.

It was not only an evening of celebrating junior achievement at Matlock Golf Club but also one at which the services and commitment of the junior co-ordinators Carol and David Hill was celebrated on their retirement.

Club chairman Peter Beardsley thanked them for their efforts and huge contribution to junior golf development over the years in their role of developing and co-ordinating golf at Matlock Golf Club.

He said: “As a result of Carol and David’s efforts, junior golf at the club has moved to a new level and is now being further aided with the use of the great new resource facilities of the floodlit driving range and custom fitting centre.”

During the evening, coaching certificates, junior golf passports and club trophies were presented by the club captain, lady captain and club president.

Junior player of the year was Tom Mooney, with junior rookie of the year named as Tom Fennah.

Daniel Latymer was the most improved player of the year, while Ryan Gebbie was announced as being the 2014 junior captain.

New junior members were made to feel welcome and introduced to members during the evening.
