The match at Dunston Road wasn't as straightforward as the scoreline would suggest with the visitors coming into the game camped in midtable.

Panthers, though, are a team on form, with a 100 per cent record in 2020 thus far, and fifth spot in the Midlands 4 East (North) standings.

They have a trip to fourth-placed Cleethorpes this Saturday and a home match to second-placed East Retford the following week (8th February).

Elsewhere in the division, Tupton’s chance to build on their 24-13 win over Gainsborough was quashed as their scheduled home fixture against Cleethorpes was postponed.

Tupton are at third-placed Meden Vale on Saturday.

While Amber Valley registered a much-needed 25-17 win at home to fellow strugglers Worksop. They are at Gainsborough this week.

In Midlands 2 East (North) Dronfield did have that chance to record back-to-back victories and did so with a 69-0 win at home to Ashbourne.

They remain top of the table after 14 games, having won 11 and losing just three, and are away to bottom side Ashfield this Saturday.

Bakewell Mannerians bounced back from defeat to Southwell with a 29-13 win at home to Belper in Midlands 3 East (North).

Bakewell, eighth in the table and a place below Belper, levelled the scores after a 27-15 defeat in the reverse fixture earlier in the season.

They are at home to Buxton on Saturday while Belper are home to Southwell.
