Raceline: Tip of the Day 8th November

Our winning streak came to an end yesterday. But there’s no time to dwell on disappointments.

Thursday November 8

DOYLE CARTE

Musselburgh 2.00 WIN

Trainer Donald McCain has hardly set the world alight in the opening weeks of the new jumps season. But he appears to have found a golden opening for the hurdling debut of this well-bred four-year-old filly, owned by the Elite Racing Club. A daughter of 2004 Ascot King George winner Doyen and a half-sister to the smart Group Two winner on the level, Dandino, she actually boasts a pedigree for the Flat. So it was no surprise to see her bag an impressive victory on her first start in Bumpers last season. She was disappointing in her subsequent two starts, but as a big, long-backed sort, she was clearly still weak and in need of more time. McCain reports that she is thriving at present and has schooled well ahead of today’s race. Musselburgh’s sharp, speedy circuit should suit her perfectly.
